Lands

A film by Maya Da-Rin

On the triple frontier between Brazil, Colombia and Peru, the twin towns of LetТcia and Tabatinga form an urban island surrounded by the Amazon rain-forest. Following the ordinary events and the constant come and go of people along the border, Lands portrays the presence and the influence of the frontier on the lives of its inhabitants.

Land, first feature film from director Maya Da-Rin, transforms into images the feelings of a people, avoiding the sociological discourse to become essentially the testimony of a flux.

- O tempo

Maya Da-Rin works with her photographer and sound designer to give the film an undeniable sense of density at each image and sound, in such a way that we feel an extreme materiality in each one of them.

- Cinética

A gorgeous work of art as well as a deliberately low-key commentary on the culture clashes generated by modernity's encroachment into nature, Maya Da-Rin's "Lands" marks the addition of another strong voice to the roster of Brazilian nonfiction filmmakers.
