1958: Born in Gemünden, Bavaria.

1976 – 1985: Studies drama and social sciences.

1980 – 1990: Foundation and organization of a group of independent filmmakers. Self-taught training as the author, director, cameraman, and editor of documentary films.

1983: Foundation of the Reiner Holzemer Film Production. Until now, more than 30 documentary films and artist portraits, commissioned by the ARD, ZDF, and arte, have been developed and produced. The

company´s goal is to produce technically high-quality movies of artistic merit. The portraits of internationally renowned artists, especially in the field of photography, constitute a key aspect in the company´s / director´s work.

1985 – 1993: Reiner Holzemer teaches at the State Technical University in Nuremberg.

Since1985: Regular participation in important German documentary film festivals, e.g. the Internationalen Filmfestspielen, Berlin. The artists’ portraits have also been shown at big museums as the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in NYC.

1990 – 1997: Cooperation with Thomas Schadt, Documentary Filmmaker, and Director of the Film University Ludwigsburg. Co-direction on thirteen movies till summer 1997.

1999 – 1997: Warded the city of Nuremberg´s Culture Grant.

Since 2002 Member by appointment of the German Society for Photography.
